To support business growth and capacity expansion, LESER India is looking for a motivated Engineer – Strategic Purchase to strengthen its procurement function.
Position Overview
The Engineer – Strategic Purchase will support strategic and operational procurement activities by executing sourcing tasks, coordinating with suppliers, maintaining ERP data, and supporting cost analysis. This is an execution-focused role designed for earlycareer professionals, offering strong learning exposure to global procurement practices under structured guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Execution & Sourcing Support
• Execute purchase and sourcing activities as per LESER India and LESER Global procurement procedures.
• Support identification and development of alternate suppliers under guidance from senior team members.
• Coordinate RFQs, collect vendor quotations, and prepare comparative statements.
• Assist in supplier evaluation based on quality, cost, delivery, and capacity indicators.
Commercial & Cost Support
• Support price negotiations and discussions with suppliers for regular sourcing and repeat orders.
• Track price revisions and maintain basic cost data and price history.
• Assist in preparation, calculation, and review of standard prices.
• Support costsaving initiatives through data analysis and benchmarking.
ERP & Rate Contract Support
• Support preparation and maintenance of rate contracts and price records in SAP.
• Ensure accurate entry and updating of vendor master, pricing, and purchase data in ERP systems.
• Monitor contract validity, price changes, and trigger renewal or revision alerts.
Supplier Coordination & Performance Monitoring
• Coordinate with suppliers for order acknowledgments, delivery schedules, and documentation.
• Support monitoring of supplier performance on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) parameters.
• Assist in coordination of supplier audits, corrective actions, and improvement plans with Quality teams.
CrossFunctional Coordination
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Stores, and Finance teams for smooth procurement execution.
• Support sourcing for new parts, engineering changes, and project requirements, including supplier interaction during offer stage.
• Provide timely operational updates and MIS to senior procurement members.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
• Maintain procurement MIS and reports using Excel.
• Support tracking of procurement KPIs and spend data.
• Apply basic Lean practices such as 5S and Kaizen in daily procurement operations.
• Exposure to Power BI, MS Lists, or Power Automate will be an added advantage.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or production engineering
• Diploma holders with relevant procurement experience may also be considered
• MBA / PG Diploma in Materials Management / Supply Chain is an added advantage
Experience
• 2–6 years of experience in procurement, purchase, or sourcing roles
• Exposure to Valve, Pump, Pressure Vessel, or Heavy Engineering manufacturing/Automobile Industry preferred
• Basic knowledge of Drawing GD&T, machining process, and boughtout components is desirable
Required Skills & Competencies
• Basic to intermediate commercial and negotiation skills
• Understanding of manufacturing materials and procurement workflows
• Strong analytical skills with Excel proficiency
• Handson experience or learning exposure to SAP (MM module preferred)
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Willingness to learn, take ownership, and work in a structured environment
• Readiness to travel within India, as required
