Senior Electrical Designer (Mining, Minerals & Metals / Material Handling)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join our team and lead electrical design and drafting activities for large-scale industrial projects within the Mining, Minerals & Metals (MMM) and Material Handling (MH) sectors.
The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in electrical design, drafting, and 3D modelling, with the ability to deliver high-quality engineering documentation, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute electrical design and drafting activities for major industrial projects.
Develop and review electrical engineering deliverables including:
HV/LV Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
Electrical schematics and termination diagrams
Cable schedules and routing layouts
Switchroom and equipment layouts
Earthing and lightning protection layouts
Lighting calculations and layouts
Panel General Arrangements (GA)
Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
Create and review 3D models of electrical equipment, cable trays, raceways, trenches, and lighting systems.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Civil, and Process disciplines.
Interface with vendors and incorporate vendor package information into project designs.
Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and project meetings.
Ensure all deliverables comply with company standards, client specifications, and relevant Australian/international codes and standards.
Identify project risks, scope changes, and design issues and proactively provide solutions.
Support workshare and global project execution teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification in Electrical Design & Drafting.
15–25 years of electrical design and drafting experience in Mining, Minerals & Metals, Material Handling, or heavy industrial projects.
Strong experience in Brownfield and Greenfield projects.
Good understanding of electrical systems, control system interfaces, and industrial plant environments.
Knowledge of Australian electrical standards and relevant international standards.
Electrical License will be highly regarded.
