Role Description The Sr. Designer – Hard Goods will lead the design and development of home textiles, handicrafts, door mats, and outdoor carpets, ensuring that collections align with brand vision, market trends, and customer requirements. In this full-time, on-site role based in Gurugram, the Sr. Designer will create concepts, sketches, and detailed specifications, collaborate closely with merchandising and production teams, and oversee sampling and product refinement. The position involves researching global trends, materials, and techniques, translating insights into commercially viable designs, and maintaining consistency in quality and aesthetics across product ranges. The Sr. Designer will also work with cross-functional teams on client presentations, design approvals, and timelines, while supporting junior designers through mentorship and feedback. Regular coordination with factory management will be required to ensure that designs are feasible, cost-effective, and sustainable.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in product and surface design for hard goods such as home textiles, handicrafts, door mats, and outdoor carpets, including concept development and technical detailing.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, CAD tools) and ability to create clear digital files and production-ready artwork.
- 3+ years of experience with material selection, color theory, and pattern development, with an understanding of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to research global market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor products, and translate findings into commercially viable design collections.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with merchandising, sales, factory management, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, including handling multiple design projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining documentation and design archives.
- Prior experience in a senior or lead design role in home décor, textiles, or related hard goods manufacturing and export environments is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design, Textile Design, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
