Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical design engineers for automation/SPM projects
- Process flow, Cycle time study, Line Balancing, Material selection, Brought out Selection, Technical calculation & RFQ Handling.
- Conceptualize and design SPMs, robotic cells, EOATs, and assembly lines
- Develop machine layouts, mechanisms, and customized automation solutions
- Coordinate with Electrical & PLC teams for system integration
- Conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and risk assessments (FMEA)
- Ensure designs meet cycle time, productivity, quality, and safety standards
- Interact with customers for requirement understanding, design approvals, and technical discussions
- Drive DFM, DFA, and cost optimization in design
- Oversee BOM preparation, drawing release, and documentation
- Support procurement and vendor development for manufacturing components
- Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and team performance
- Participate in machine build, trials, debugging, and final commissioning
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen)
- Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and company processes
Key Skills & Competencies:
Technical Skills:
- Strong experience in SPM / Automation / Robotics Design
- Expertise in mechanism design, pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion systems
- Hands-on experience in EOAT, conveyors, fixtures, and material handling systems
- Proficiency in SolidWorks / Creo / CATIA / AutoCAD
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DFM/DFA
- Exposure to PLC/controls integration (basic understanding)
- Familiarity with FMEA, machine safety standards, and ISO practices
