Role Description The Sr Databricks Technical Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines and analytics solutions on Databricks, working closely with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders. The individual will define technical standards, oversee code reviews, ensure best practices in data engineering, and troubleshoot performance or reliability issues in large-scale data environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating project delivery, mentoring team members, contributing to solution architecture, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions. The Sr Databricks Technical Lead will also support deployment activities, monitor production workloads, and continuously improve data platform reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Overall 12 to 15 years experience
- Strong expertise in Databricks and modern data engineering tools, with the ability to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, SQL, Scala) and experience with distributed data processing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud data platforms and services and familiarity with data lake, data warehouse, and ETL/ELT concepts.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, performance tuning, and best practices for managing large, complex datasets and real-time or batch processing workloads.
- Background in solution architecture or technical leadership, including the ability to define standards, conduct code reviews, and guide technical decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in mentoring or leading data engineering teams, with strong ownership, problem-solving skills, and a focus on delivery quality and timelines.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in digital transformation, analytics, or business process automation projects is preferred; exposure to omnichannel customer experience solutions is a plus.
