Database Engineer
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Database technologies, SQL, and PL/SQL development.
- Strong expertise in Oracle database architecture, data modeling, and enterprise database design principles.
- Extensive experience with Oracle SQL, ANSI SQL, and advanced PL/SQL programming techniques.
- Deep understanding of OLTP and OLAP systems, including database performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience working with large-scale databases containing millions of records and high transaction volumes.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud environments and enterprise database deployment practices.
- Strong experience designing and developing complex stored procedures, packages, functions, views, indexes, and other database objects.
- Experience with Liquibase and database release/version management processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of financial services or compliance-related domains is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
Nice To have
- Experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting.
- Exposure to ETL tools and data integration frameworks.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AI-assisted development and automation tools.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead solution design activities for emerging business requirements in collaboration with Product Owners, Architects, and cross-functional teams.
- Perform large-scale SQL data analysis and provide data-driven solutions for complex business and operational challenges.
- Design and implement scalable data models, database schemas, DDL/DML scripts, and access controls.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL components including stored procedures, packages, functions, and triggers.
- Implement advanced PL/SQL programming concepts such as exception handling, autonomous transactions, collections, records, and custom data types.
- Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, and performance monitoring.
- Manage database deployment processes across DEV, SIT, UAT, Customer Test, and Production environments using Liquibase and CI/CD practices.
- Maintain deployment runbooks, release documentation, and operational procedures to support reliable software delivery.
- Provide production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for Oracle database platforms and applications.
- Participate in technical planning, estimation, design, development, testing, and delivery of epics and user stories.
- Ensure adherence to architecture standards, non-functional requirements (NFRs), security policies, and development best practices.
- Perform code reviews, mentor team members, and promote engineering excellence and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Support innovation initiatives by leveraging modern automation and AI-assisted development tools.
- Own the operational stability, uptime, and deployment support for assigned Oracle database environments.
