Role Description The Sr. Database Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s and clients’ database environments. Day-to-day activities include designing and implementing database architectures, monitoring performance, and ensuring high availability, security, backup, and recovery. The role involves configuring and managing replication, diagnosing and resolving database issues, and collaborating with development and operations teams to support scalable web platforms and applications. The Sr. Database Administrator will also assist in capacity planning, implement best practices, and contribute to process improvements that enhance reliability and efficiency of data systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases across Development, UAT,
Production, and DR environments.
Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, monitoring,
and capacity planning.
Ensure high availability, replication, failover, backup, recovery, and Disaster
Recovery for critical databases.
Perform database and SQL/query performance tuning, indexing, execution-plan
analysis, and workload optimization.
Manage database users, roles, privileges, authentication, security, and audit requirements.
Handle database migrations, version upgrades, schema changes, and production releases.
Provide L2/L3 production support, incident management, troubleshooting, and root-
cause analysis.
Develop and maintain database backup/recovery strategies and regularly validate
recovery procedures.
Work with Development, Application, DevOps, Infrastructure, Security, and Data
Engineering teams to resolve database-related issues.
Monitor database health, CPU, memory, storage, I/O, connections, locks, and overall
performance.
Support vulnerability remediation, security patching, compliance, and database
hardening.
Maintain database SOPs, architecture documentation, operational procedures, and DR
documentation.
