Role Description The Sr. Data Scientist (GIS / Geospatial Analytics) – W2 role is a full-time, on-site position based in Hyderabad. The individual in this role will design and implement advanced geospatial analytics solutions, applying data science methods to location-based data to support business decision-making. Day-to-day responsibilities include acquiring, cleaning, and integrating diverse spatial datasets; developing predictive and descriptive models; and generating maps, dashboards, and visualizations that clearly communicate insights. The Sr. Data Scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define analytical requirements, validate methodologies, and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role also involves optimizing workflows, mentoring junior team members, and staying current with emerging GIS, geospatial, and data science tools and techniques.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Data Science and Statistics, including modeling, hypothesis testing, and machine learning for geospatial data.
- Demonstrated experience in Data Analytics and Data Analysis to interpret complex spatial datasets and transform them into actionable insights.
- Ability to create clear and compelling Data Visualization outputs, such as maps, dashboards, and interactive reports.
- Hands-on experience with GIS tools and platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS) and geospatial libraries (e.g., GeoPandas, Shapely).
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science (such as Python or R) and SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
- Familiarity with big data or cloud-based analytics environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and version control tools (e.g., Git).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Prior experience in a senior or lead data science role, particularly in GIS or geospatial analytics, is highly beneficial.
