Role Description The Sr. Data Centre Design Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for leading the design and engineering of data center infrastructure and systems. This role includes developing detailed design documents, specifications, and drawings for power, cooling, cabling, and IT infrastructure, as well as coordinating with internal teams and client stakeholders. The engineer will evaluate requirements, perform capacity planning, and ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and compliance standards. Daily tasks involve reviewing technical submittals, supporting implementation teams, resolving design-related issues, and providing guidance on best practices for data center operations. The position also includes contributing to project estimates, supporting pre-sales technical discussions, and maintaining documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Past BMS/BAS Controls Experience as a design or technician.
- Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Data Center Infrastructure design, including power, cooling, cabling layouts, and equipment selection.
- Candidates should possess hands-on experience in Data Center Operations, including capacity planning, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Candidates should possess advanced Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and design-related issues.
- Candidates should possess practical expertise in cabling standards, structured cabling systems, and best practices for high-availability environments.
- Relevant skills such as familiarity with industry standards (e.g., TIA, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE), and knowledge of networking and server environments are beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in senior-level data center design or engineering roles, preferably in building automation or mission-critical facilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate effectively across distributed teams.
