Job Description
Title: Sr. Atlassian Administrator
Platform Administration & Governance
- Own day-to-day administration of Jira Software, JSM (Premium), Confluence, Atlassian Assets, and connected products (Compass, Rovo, Opsgenie/PagerDuty integration).
- Manage workflows, screens, custom fields, permissions, automations, queues, SLAs, request types, and project schemes.
- Maintain a clean, documented configuration baseline; enforce naming conventions, field re-use, and global vs project-level scheme hygiene to prevent configuration sprawl.
- Administer user provisioning, group/role mapping, and access reviews via Atlassian Access / SSO.
Techno-Functional Consulting
- Partner with IT, Engineering, DevOps, HR, Finance, and Legal stakeholders to translate business requirements into Atlassian solutions — not just "build what was asked."
- Run discovery sessions, propose 2–3 implementation options with trade-offs (native config vs automation vs Marketplace app vs custom), and document decisions.
- Build and maintain reference solutions: ITSM (Incident, Request, Change, Problem), Asset & CMDB, DevOps boards, Knowledge Base, project intake, and approval workflows.
Release Tracking & Value Realisation
- Track Atlassian's release notes, EAP (Early Access) features, and roadmap on a weekly cadence — across Jira, JSM, Confluence, Assets, Rovo, Compass, and Atlassian Intelligence.
- Translate every meaningful release into a one-page "What changed → What it means for insightsoftware → Recommended action" note for IT leadership.
- Pilot new capabilities (e.g., Rovo agents, AI work creation, virtual service agent, Assets Discovery enhancements, queue customisations) and drive adoption where ROI is clear.
Configuration Review & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct quarterly configuration audits: unused custom fields, stale workflows, orphaned automations, permission drift, app utilisation, and license consumption.
- Refactor and simplify — reduce custom fields, consolidate workflows, retire unused projects/spaces, and improve performance.
- Maintain a backlog of platform improvements and execute against it transparently.
Cost Optimisation
- Own Atlassian licensing posture: right-size user tiers (JSM agents, Jira users, Confluence users), reclaim inactive seats monthly, and forecast renewals.
- Evaluate Marketplace apps for ROI; consolidate or retire overlapping apps; negotiate co-term and tier changes ahead of renewal.
- Build and maintain a cost dashboard showing seat utilisation, app spend, and projected vs actual run-rate.
- Lead annual renewal preparation in partnership with Procurement and the Director – IT.
Automation & Integrations
- Build and maintain automations using Jira Automation, JSM Assets automation, and where required, scripting (ScriptRunner, Forge, REST API).
- Integrate Atlassian with enterprise systems — Intune, Tanium, Device42, Microsoft Entra ID, Slack, ServiceNow (where applicable), and PagerDuty/Opsgenie.
- Build and maintain dashboards, JQL libraries, and reporting that leadership actually uses.
Support & Enablement
- Act as Tier-3 escalation for the Service Desk on all Atlassian issues.
- Run office hours, build self-service KB content in Confluence, and train power users / project admins.
- Manage Atlassian Support tickets and Premier Support engagements; drive RCAs to closure.
