About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled PostgreSQL Developer to join our dynamic Technology & Transformation practice at Deloitte. This role is pivotal in developing, optimizing, and maintaining high-performance, data-intensive systems that support our clients' strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in SQL development, query optimization, and database design, particularly for large-scale platforms such as telemetry, Internet of Things (IoT), or event-driven systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of data management and analytics, supporting innovative projects that leverage the latest in cloud-native technologies and automation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable database solutions, implement best practices, and ensure the robustness and reliability of critical data infrastructure.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 6 to 9 years of professional experience in PostgreSQL development, demonstrating deep expertise in SQL, schema design, and performance tuning. Proven experience working with large datasets, including telemetry, IoT, or event streams, is essential. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of PostgreSQL internals, indexing, partitioning, and database optimization techniques. Hands-on experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL in production environments is required, along with familiarity with database monitoring, observability, and diagnostics. A strong grasp of backup, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery concepts is also necessary. Candidates with exposure to cloud-native database design and advanced features such as PostGIS, Full-Text Search, or pgvector will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and database components to support high-performance applications.
- Build and support databases managing large datasets, telemetry, IoT, or event-based workloads, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Perform advanced SQL tuning, execution plan analysis, and query optimization to enhance system performance.
- Design and implement effective indexing and partitioning strategies to improve query efficiency and data management.
- Work with AWS RDS PostgreSQL for scalable, cloud-based database deployment and management.
- Implement and oversee replication, high availability, and backup strategies to ensure data integrity and system resilience.
- Leverage database monitoring and observability tools to proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve performance issues.
- Collaborate with application, data, and platform teams to support evolving product and system requirements.
