The Specialist at Van Sickle Academy Middle School is responsible for the following:
- Helping ensure school-wide consistency in implementation of culture expectations
- Acting as an exemplar for all staff by modeling high expectations for all students
- Working with students to grow academically and behaviorally.
- Participating in various duties around the building as needed.
- Supporting the administration and staff members as they create a positive student culture
- Serving as support staff around the building; working with staff members to ensure all areas of the building are covered.
- Monitoring public areas (such as hallways and other public spaces) when appropriate to reinforce school behavior expectations
- Coordinating the accurate monitoring and analyzing student attendance and student discipline
Required:
- High School Diploma required
- High expectations for self and others, and a willingness to hold self and others accountable to these expectations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills
- Committment to professional growth
- Belief and alignment with SPS's core beliefs and philosophy, including the belief that each and every child can excel academically
Highly Desired (but not required):
- Understanding and experience working with urban school environments and culture
- At least 3 years experience working in schools
- Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing abilities
