Job overview / summary:The Splunk Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of Splunk-based monitoring and analytics solutions. The role focuses on ensuring reliable data ingestion, developing dashboards and alerts, optimizing search performance, and supporting incident response. The engineer collaborates with operations, cloud, and development teams to enhance observability, ensure data quality, and enable actionable insights across the organizationImportant skills for Splunk specialists include experience in Splunk operations and technical expertise in data modeling and integration, good knowledge of database systems and an ability to troubleshoot services and complex solutions.The engineer making an impact by improving service reliability through proactive monitoring and enabling data-driven decision making for operations teams.
Accountabilities:
- Install, configure and update splunk software components such as Search Heads, Indexers, Forwarders etc.
- Second level support and troubleshooting of issues related to the daily business in splunk operations
- Awareness of updates in the product/service specification
Education and experience:General education and experience
- University degree in Computer Sciences, IT or related technical/engineering field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Splunk technologies and related modules
- Deep know-how in service metrics, logging, observability and deriving projects from it
- Good know-how in networking infrastructure (on premise and cloud), databases, data centers and web technologies
- Knowledge in Agile/SAFe ways of working and facilitating tools like Jira
- Experience in troubleshooting
- Experience in MS Office programs
- Preferably Telecommunications and/or Payment industry experience
- Preferably experience with working across different cultures
- Preferably software development experience
- Preferably ITIL foundation certification
- Preferably ServiceNow administration/integration experience

Responsibilities:Core responsibilities
- Manage Splunk Enterprise components including Search Heads, Indexers, Forwarders, Deployment Server, and Cluster Master.
- Design and develop Splunk dashboards, alerts, data models, and knowledge objects based on customer (internal and external) requirements
- Onboard and validate new log sources using best practices for parsing, event breaking, and field extractions.
- Optimize SPL queries and improve search performance.
- Maintain data ingestion pipelines and monitor indexing health.
- Troubleshoot Splunk issues (indexing delays, search bottlenecks, forwarder issues).
- Support automation for onboarding, configuration management, and alerting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible).
- Ensure compliance with security requirements and internal processes.
- Support Cloud & Datacenter operations teams on roll-out and maintenance of Splunk infrastructure
- Evaluate, improve and add applicable work instructions
- Resolve incidents regarding Splunk operations
- Identify and address day to day continuous improvement activities
- Follow G+D MS global policies, procedures and tools
- Coordinate with R&D department for new software releases and updates
- Timely and accurate time reporting
Additional Responsibilities (Senior Role)
- Lead Splunk architecture decisions and platform scaling.
- Mentor junior Splunk engineers.
- Drive observability improvements across the toolchain
