Medical Summary and Projections Associate
We are a fast-growing medical-legal organization specializing in orthopedic, spine, neurology, and personal injury case management services. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Medical Summary and Projections Associate (Contractor) to support our providers, operations, and litigation teams through the preparation of high-quality medical summaries and future care projections.
This is a fully remote independent contractor position ideal for someone with a strong medical background who enjoys reviewing complex medical records, organizing clinical information, and contributing to the development of treatment projections used in medical-legal cases. Experience with personal injury, medical chronologies, life care planning support, or medical-legal documentation is highly preferred.
Position Overview
The Medical Summary and Projections Associate (Contractor) will be responsible for reviewing and summarizing medical records, developing treatment and cost projections based on physician recommendations, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all deliverables. This role works closely with physicians, operations staff, case managers, and legal teams to support case preparation and litigation deadlines.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and writing skills, and the ability to interpret complex medical documentation while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and summarize medical records, clinical documentation, and supporting case materials into concise and organized medical summaries.
- Prepare treatment projections and cost estimates based on physician recommendations, medical standards, and case-specific information.
- Verify the completeness, consistency, and accuracy of summaries and projections to ensure compliance with Company quality standards.
- Support physicians, case managers, operations teams, and legal staff by delivering accurate and timely reports aligned with case deadlines and client expectations.
- Maintain organized records and tracking systems for completed summaries, projections, and related documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians and internal teams to clarify medical information, validate assumptions, and update reports when new records become available.
- Handle all medical and case information in compliance with HIPAA regulations, confidentiality requirements, and Company policies.
- Identify workflow improvement opportunities and contribute feedback toward SOP development and process optimization initiatives.
- Perform additional duties, special projects, and operational support tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Medical background preferred, including experience in orthopedics, spine, neurology, rehabilitation, TBI, nursing, healthcare administration, or related fields.
- Experience with medical summaries, medical chronologies, life care planning support, medical-legal documentation, or personal injury cases preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, writing, and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret complex medical records and treatment recommendations accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and document management platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently in a remote work environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in a healthcare, legal, or medical-legal environment is a plus.
Work Environment & Schedule
