Position Name: Plastic Material specialist
Department: Body Systems
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering/Material Science
Years of Experience: 10-12 years
Purpose of the Position: To lead and manage the definition, execution, and evaluation of tests related to new materials, colors, and grains. Ensure timely approval and release of master samples and plaques, coordinate with cross-functional teams (CFT), and validate drawings and materials

To release the material, color and grain of all body system plastic components

Key Responsibilities
- Define test requirements for new materials, colors, and grain structures in alignment with specifications.
- Prepare and maintain Test Definition Sheets for all relevant parts.
- Ensure test plans cover all necessary environmental, mechanical, and aesthetic parameters.
- Coordinate with internal/external labs for execution of tests.
- Evaluate test results against defined criteria and standards.
- Document findings and prepare evaluation reports for internal review.
- Communicate test results, deviations, and approvals to CFT members including design, quality, purchasing, and manufacturing teams.
- Organize and lead review meetings to align on test outcomes and next steps.
- Approve master plaques/samples post successful testing and evaluation.
- Arrange acceptance and sign-off from relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain and update List of Master Samples (specific and existing series).
- Ensure availability and traceability of specific master samples for TCP coordination.
- Release and distribute master samples to relevant departments and suppliers.
- Review and approve technical drawings for all parts as per TL definition
- Ensure drawings reflect correct material specifications, grain, and color codes.
- Validate LAH-relevant parts for material and test requirements.
- Check materials and test requirements for parts relevant to LAH (Local Assembly Hub).
- Ensure compliance with TL and project-specific standards.
- Strong understanding of material science, especially polymers, coatings, and surface finishes.
- Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g., TLs, VDA, ISO).
- Experience in lab testing procedures and equipment.
- Proficient in technical drawing interpretation and CAD tools.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting abilities.
- 5+ years of experience in material testing, validation, and sample management
- Experience in automotive or manufacturing industry preferred.
