Job Summary
The Specialist IT Infrastructure & Security is a hands-on, mid-level individual contributor responsible for the day-to-day administration, security and reliability of the organization’s server, network, cloud, virtualisation and endpoint estate. The role independently executes provisioning, hardening, monitoring, incident response and routine change activities, while collaborating with senior engineers on architecture and risk reduction initiatives. The Specialist is a key first responder for infrastructure incidents and a custodian of ISMS-aligned operating practices across LAN/WAN, firewalls, IAM, backup, cloud, hypervisor, telecom and physical-security systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor and maintain core IT infrastructure components – servers, storage, virtualization, LAN/WAN/VLAN, routing, firewalls and Wi-Fi – ensuring agreed uptime and performance SLAs.
- Administer Windows and Linux server environments including patching, hardening, account management, performance tuning and capacity tracking.
- Manage network and perimeter security devices: firewall rule lifecycle, VPN, IPS/IDS tuning, NAC, web/email gateway and segmentation in line with the firewall change-management policy.
- Administer Identity & Access Management – Active Directory / Azure AD, group policies, RBAC, MFA, joiner-mover-leaver workflows and privileged-access reviews.
- Execute and validate scheduled backups, restoration drills and DR rehearsals; maintain recovery runbooks and RPO/RTO evidence.
- Operate cloud workloads on AWS and/or Azure – IaaS provisioning, IAM, networking, cost monitoring, security baselines and tagging standards.
- Manage virtualization and hypervisor platforms (VMware / Hyper-V / KVM), including VM lifecycle, snapshots, resource pools and HA/DRS clusters.
- Maintain endpoint security stack – EDR/antivirus consoles, encryption, USB control, patch deployment and compliance reporting.
- Administer telecom (EPABX / SIP / ISP links) and physical-security systems (CCTV, door access, ELV) in coordination with admin and vendor teams.
- Configure and tune infrastructure monitoring, log forwarding and basic automation (scripts, scheduled tasks, simple orchestration) to reduce manual effort.
- Act as L2 / L3 responder for infrastructure incidents – triage, root-cause analysis, communication and post-incident documentation within ITIL SLAs.
- Drive incident, problem and request tickets to closure in the ITSM tool and maintain knowledge-base articles for recurring issues.
- Support VAPT cycles by coordinating scans, validating findings, remediating issues and tracking closure with evidence.
- Maintain accurate IT asset, software-license and configuration records; support audits and ISMS / ISO 27001 reviews with required evidence.
- Coach Junior Associates / Associates / Senior Associates on operational playbooks and conduct user-facing security awareness sessions and training.
- Coordinate with OEMs, ISPs and managed-service vendors on tickets, RMA, AMC and project deliveries; review work quality before sign-off.
