About Neurowise Academy Foundation
Neurowise Academy Foundation is looking for a passionate and committed individual who would be willing to work with neurodivergent learners in Indian government schools by recognising, understanding, and supporting them. Our approaches are founded on evidence and research-based methodologies, developed in collaboration with UK and international clinicians and adapted to suit the Indian educational system.
About the Role
We are seeking a Special Educator to work directly with children with learning differences in 2 government schools in Bengaluru. This is a growth role open for an individual who may be keen to make a career change or even return back to employment after a career break. You would need to show commitment, empathy, and a genuine desire to learn.
You will be trained in approaches grounded in international research on neurodiversity, work alongside UK and internationally led clinicians, and gain hands-on experience with newly developed screening tools. Your on-the-ground experience with students and teachers will directly inform how these methodologies are adapted for Indian schools.
This is a structured role with clear responsibilities and ongoing mentorship - designed for someone who wants to learn and develop at the intersection of education, technology, and social impact.
Responsibilities
• On-site support at 2 government schools on alternate days (4 days per week)
• 1 day per week from home for documentation and planning
• Supporting children with learning differences in classroom and small group settings
• Assisting with early identification activities using research-informed screening tools
• Contributing student and teacher-led insights to inform how international methodologies can be adapted for India’s education system
• Building relationships with teachers, school staff, and families
• Recording observations and contributing to case documentation
• Participating in regular training and development sessions
What You Will Gain
• Training in approaches founded on evidence and research-based methodologies
• Direct exposure to UK and internationally led clinical practitioners
• Hands-on experience with newly developed screening tools
• Access to our advisory board (includes board members of the International Dyslexia Association and Learning Disabilities Association of America)
• The correct candidate will be supported and coached to be put forward as a Wipro Foundation Fellow
• NWA Fellowship status awarded upon successful completion of 12 months
• Opportunity to transition into a paid role upon demonstrating commitment over the 12-month period
Requirements
• Former teacher, teaching assistant, education professional, or parent with relevant lived experience
• Minimum 12-month commitment
• A genuine desire to learn and grow
• Passion for working with neurodivergent children who would otherwise have no access to support
• Financial compensation is not the primary motivation
• Proficient in English (essential); Kannada is highly desirable
• Based in Bengaluru
No clinical qualifications required. We provide the training, the mentorship, and the pathway. We expect your commitment in return.
