We are seeking an experienced Materials Planner to join our team and support planning, scheduling, and customer material coordination for complex defense and aerospace programs.


Work Location: Logan, UT

Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

Citizenship Requirement: Must be a US Citizen


Job Summary 

The Materials Planner III works as a key liaison between Spartronics and our defense/aerospace customers to manage production schedules, ensure material availability, and support program execution. This role supports master scheduling, coordinates with purchasing, manages engineering changes, and ensures that materials and work orders align with customer demand and contractual requirements. The position requires proactive communication, strong analytical capability, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Master Scheduler to create Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Create, manage, and adjust production plans based on customer demand, capacity, and material availability.
  • Review, release, and maintain work orders in alignment with production requirements and MRP data accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials impacting the MPS or production plan.
  • Communicate schedule changes clearly and promptly to customers, Program Management, manufacturing, and support teams, securing approvals as required.
  • Review customer RMA requests with engineering and Program Management; initiate and track RMA work orders.
  • Receive and process engineering changes (ECOs/ECNs), coordinating implementation across relevant departments.
  • Resolve part obsolescence/EOL issues in partnership with Program Management and Purchasing.
  • Monitor, report, and disposition excess material in coordination with Program Management.
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly, ensuring accurate information flow and internal follow-through.
  • Manage and coordinate all material support activities between Spartronics and the customer.
  • Participate in production status and cross-functional program meetings.
  • Utilize online material ordering and ERP/MRP systems to track status and ensure accurate planning.
  • Use sound judgment in determining planning methods and evaluating data within established policies.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with Federal, State, Provincial, ITAR, and Company safety and regulatory standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field.
  • Five (5) plus years of progressive experience in the production planning/master scheduling function(s).
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (preferably aerospace, defense, or electronics).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and to be able to read schematics and technical drawings.
