Space Grade Equipment Procurement Specialist
| olee.space | Pune | Full-Time, On-Site | 3+ Years Experience
Before you apply:
→ B.E./B.Tech mandatory
→ 3+ years in space-grade/defence-grade/Hi-Rel procurement
→ Pune on-site only — no remote, no hybrid
→ Security clearance required
About olee.space
We are building India's most advanced free-space optical communication (FSOC) and quantum-secure networking systems. Jam-proof laser links. Flight hardware, not PowerPoints.
About the Role
You will own end-to-end sourcing, qualification, and procurement of space-grade EEE components, optical elements, photonics sub-assemblies, and specialty materials. This is not a purchase-order-processing role — you need to read datasheets, understand what a component does in the system, and proactively find better parts.
What You Will Do
- → Read and interpret component datasheets, qualification reports, and test data — cross-reference electrical, thermal, radiation, and optical specs against design requirements before initiating procurement
- → Understand how each component functions in the larger system (laser transmitter chain, detector assembly, FPGA board, fibre amplifier) — ask the right questions to vendors, flag mismatches early
- → Proactively research and recommend better, faster, or more cost-effective alternate components — work with design engineers on performance vs availability vs cost trade-offs
- → Source and procure space-grade EEE parts, optical elements, specialty fibres, and raw materials per ESA ECSS / NASA EEE-INST-002 / MIL-STD standards
- → Build strategic relationships with radiation-hardened component vendors, photonics suppliers, and Hi-Rel manufacturers → Manage the full procurement lifecycle on Zoho — POs, vendor follow-up, goods receipt, CoCs, lot date codes, country-of-origin docs, and traceability
- → Generate RFQs/RFPs with clear technical specs, delivery schedules, and screening requirements
- → Run obsolescence management and DMSMS analysis — catch end-of-life risks before they block production
- → Negotiate pricing and lead times without compromising quality for flight-grade hardware
- → Monitor global supply chain risks — buffer stocks, dual-sourcing, long-lead forecasting
You Must Have
- → B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related (mandatory)
- → 3+ years procuring space-grade, defence-grade, or Hi-Rel components
- → Ability to read electronic and optical component datasheets — voltage ratings, thermal limits, radiation tolerance, insertion loss, wavelength specs — and match them to design requirements
- → Hands-on experience with Zoho (Inventory/Books/CRM) or willingness to learn within 30 days. Prior SAP/Oracle also accepted
- → Working knowledge of ESA ECSS standards, MIL-STD specs, and component screening procedures
- → Knowledge of Indian SCOMET controls and import/export regulations for space and defence components
Nice to Have
→ Experience with ISRO, DRDO, or international space agency supply chains
→ Understanding of optical/photonic components (fibre amplifiers, seed lasers, photodetectors, deformable mirrors) and how they integrate into laser communication systems
→ Familiarity with ITAR/EAR compliance and Wassenaar Arrangement
→ Prior serial production procurement for satellite constellations
What You Get
Nation-critical FSOC and quantum-secure work
- → Competitive pay + ESOPs
- → Your name on flight hardware orbiting Earth
- → Health insurance, L&D budget, team celebrations
- → Zero bureaucracy — talk to the CEO anytime
