Job Summary
The Unit Clerk Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous observation of cardiac monitors and interpretation of heart rhythms (EKGs). This role ensures timely communication of critical changes in patient cardiac status and supports safe, effective clinical care in telemetry settings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Monitoring: Identify normal and abnormal EKG rhythms; Notify nursing staff of rhythm changes and patient needs; Remain calm and effective during emergencies. Work Quantity: Post EKG strips promptly; Complete assigned duties; Adapt to workload changes; Participate in quality measures; Complete clerical work by end of shift; Perform effectively in emergencies; Demonstrate teamwork. Policies & Procedures Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of EKG rhythms; Understand cardiac arrest responsibilities; Demonstrate knowledge of telemetry systems.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; Ability to read, write, and understand verbal/written communication; Basic computer skills.
Working Conditions
Rotating shifts including weekends and holidays; May be required to adjust schedule, work extra shifts, or stay late based on department needs.
