The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking an
Insurance Specialist 4 to join the Office of Health, Life & Annuity/Life & Annuity Division. This role focuses on reviewing life insurance and annuity policy form filings to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations. The position involves reviewing complex filings, conducting regulatory research, and supporting investigations and regulatory decision-making.
Position Duties
Six years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement; OR
A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement; OR
An advanced degree plus two years of experience in insurance, administrative services, investigations, or law enforcement.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:
As an Insurance Specialist 4 in the Office of Health, Life & Annuity/Life & Annuity Division, you will/may:
- Review complex life insurance and annuity policy form filings to ensure they comply with Louisiana laws and regulations, while staying current on legal and regulatory changes that may impact requirements.
- Conduct investigations and respond to complex inquiries from insurance companies and other stakeholders regarding life insurance and annuity laws, regulations, and form filings.
- Serve as a lead worker, providing day-to-day guidance, support, and training to other insurance specialists to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality in regulatory reviews.
- Research and interpret insurance laws and regulations, using your analysis to develop recommendations and support regulatory decision-making.
- Draft clear, professional correspondence to insurance companies and other stakeholders regarding filing requirements, compliance issues, and regulatory determinations.
- Collaborate with leadership, including the Deputy Commissioner and management team, to discuss complex filings and provide input on regulatory matters.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and other written materials to support decision-making, special projects, and ongoing regulatory efforts.
- Work with colleagues across LDI, as well as insurance industry representatives, attorneys, and the public, to address regulatory questions and support compliance.
- Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned to support the division’s priorities.
- Review utilization management policies and procedures for compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations and coordinate utilization management regulatory and audit activities.
