Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Solution Architect to lead technology integration during company mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. The role will design and execute strategies for tenant consolidation, identity integration, collaboration migration, and endpoint unification across organizations.
The architect will ensure secure, scalable, and minimally disruptive integration of acquired companies into the Microsoft ecosystem, focusing on Messaging & Collaboration, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and Unified Endpoint Management (UEM).
Key Responsibilities:
M&A Technology Integration
- Lead Microsoft 365 integration strategy during mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Conduct technical due diligence on target companies' IT environments.
- Define Day 1 readiness, Day 30 integration, and long-term consolidation strategy.
- Develop migration roadmaps for users, devices, and data.
Messaging & Collaboration
- Design and execute migrations involving:
- Exchange Online
- Microsoft Teams
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive
- Plan and implement:
- Cross-tenant mailbox migrations
- Teams and SharePoint consolidation
- Collaboration governance
- Ensure minimal downtime and business disruption during transitions.
Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Architect identity integration using:
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Conditional Access
- Identity Governance
- Design:
- Cross-tenant identity federation
- Tenant-to-tenant identity migration
- Secure authentication frameworks
- Implement Zero Trust principles across merged environments.
Unified Endpoint Management
- Design endpoint integration using:
- Microsoft Intune
- Autopilot
- Configuration Manager (if hybrid)
- Plan device transition strategies including:
- BYOD and corporate device onboarding
- Device compliance policies
- Endpoint security baselines
- Consolidate endpoint management platforms post-merger.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure secure integration of environments using:
- Microsoft Defender
- Microsoft Purview
- Compliance Center
- Implement policies for:
- Data Loss Prevention
- Information Protection
- Insider risk and audit readiness.
Architecture & Governance
- Develop Microsoft 365 reference architectures for M&A scenarios.
- Create integration playbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Provide architectural guidance to migration and engineering teams.
- Work with legal, compliance, and IT leadership during integration.
Required Skills & Experience:
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience with:
- Microsoft 365 architecture
- Exchange Online migrations
- Microsoft Teams and SharePoint migrations
- Microsoft Intune and endpoint management
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Experience with cross-tenant migrations and tenant consolidations.
- Familiarity with migration tools such as:
- Quest On Demand
- BitTitan
- ShareGate
- Microsoft native migration tools.
Professional Experience:
- 8+ years in Microsoft ecosystem architecture or engineering.
- 3+ years experience supporting M&A technology integrations.
- Experience managing large enterprise tenants (1000+ users).
Certifications (Preferred)
- Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Security Administrator
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator
- Relevant Azure certifications.
