Job Description
The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality experience for customers and colleagues. We also provide product management for core enterprise platforms, and lead technology risk and information security, enterprise data governance and platforms, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms on behalf of the company.
Global Infrastructure (GI) delivers on-demand, modern, self-service infrastructure that delights customers while ensuring scalability, security, and stability.
The team is hiring a Solutions Architect II, to design and deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance full stack platforms. This role is a hands-on individual contributor position, partnering with product, engineering, and architecture teams to modernize enterprise applications.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to AI-enabled full stack features such as intelligent workflows, summarization, or developer productivity tooling.
- Evaluate and integrate GenAI capabilities responsibly with focus on security, governance, and business value.
- Practical exposure to AI/GenAI concepts and tools, with the ability to implement simple AI-enabled features.
- Develop secure, resilient backend services and modern frontends using enterprise engineering standards.
- Write production-quality code, unit/integration tests, and build automation pipelines.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and improve engineering quality across teams.
- Identify opportunities to adopt new technologies and drive platform modernization.
- Support production readiness, observability, performance tuning, and issue remediation.
- Collaborate with peer technology and scrum teams across different locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python/Java/Go Lang
- Strong frontend development skills with Node.js, React.js
- Experience in using public cloud platform services, like AWS / Azure / GCP Associate level certifications are plus
- Solid fundamentals in Gen AI and Agentic AI knowledge. Good to have implementation skills
- Solid fundamentals in distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
- Experience with datastores and messaging technologies such as Redis, Kafka, Couchbase, and PostgreSQL
- Experience building and supporting large-scale systems in production
- Hands-on experience with GitOps, Helm and ArgoCD and knowledge on CI/CD practices is a plus
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
