We are seeking a Solution Architect Manager to lead the architecture, governance, and continuous evolution of a global Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platform. This role combines strategic solution architecture responsibilities with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring that enterprise manufacturing solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have deep MES expertise, strong technical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across business, technology, and delivery teams.
About the Role
As a Solution Architect Manager, you will be responsible for defining and governing the enterprise MES architecture while actively contributing to solution design, development, configuration, and implementation activities. Acting as the bridge between business requirements and technical execution, you will ensure that manufacturing solutions support global digital transformation objectives, operational excellence, and long-term scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture
- Define, maintain, and enhance the global MES architecture and technology roadmap.
- Establish architecture standards, design principles, and reusable solution patterns.
- Ensure consistency across deployments, integrations, applications, and manufacturing sites.
- Assess new business and technical requirements and evaluate their impact on the overall solution landscape.
- Drive architectural governance and technical decision-making across programs and projects.
Technical Leadership & Development
- Actively participate in MES configuration, development, customization, and implementation activities.
- Develop proof-of-concept solutions and complex technical components.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical technical issues and production incidents.
- Conduct architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
- Define and promote development best practices, methodologies, and technical standards.
- Mentor and guide developers, engineers, and technical teams.
Product & Platform Ownership
- Support the evolution and enhancement of global MES templates and standards.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and reusable across manufacturing environments.
- Contribute to deployment, rollout, and implementation activities.
- Lead technical evaluations of new features, capabilities, and platform enhancements.
Vendor & Partner Collaboration
- Provide technical leadership across internal teams and external implementation partners.
- Review and assess proposed technical solutions and recommendations from third-party providers.
- Collaborate with product vendors, support teams, and technology partners to resolve complex challenges.
- Ensure adherence to organizational architecture standards and development guidelines.
Delivery & Solution Design
- Collaborate with business and functional stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Develop detailed solution designs, technical specifications, and implementation approaches.
- Break down functional requirements into development tasks, technical work packages, and project deliverables.
- Support agile planning activities, technical prioritization, and delivery execution.
- Ensure consistent interpretation and implementation of requirements across development teams.
Knowledge Management
- Build organizational expertise in MES technologies and solution architecture practices.
- Maintain architecture documentation, standards, and knowledge repositories.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer from vendors and implementation partners to internal teams.
- Support the development of long-term technical capabilities and best practices.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Extensive hands-on experience designing, configuring, developing, and supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in MES architecture, implementation, and integration with manufacturing and enterprise systems.
- Deep understanding of ISA-95 standards and manufacturing execution processes.
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, troubleshooting, stored procedures, reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong JavaScript development experience for application customization and user interface enhancements.
- Experience with system integrations, APIs, middleware, database interfaces, and enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with modern software development lifecycle practices, source control systems, agile methodologies, CI/CD concepts, and release management.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities across application, integration, and database layers.
- Experience supporting large-scale, global technology deployments and multi-site manufacturing operations.
Leadership Skills
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and influence teams without direct reporting authority.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience guiding external partners and vendors to ensure alignment with organizational standards.
- Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and drive architecture decisions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills for technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading enterprise-scale manufacturing transformation initiatives.
