Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a SolidWorks Draftsperson based in Mumbai. The SolidWorks Draftsperson will be responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and models of machinery components and assemblies using SolidWorks. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting design briefs and engineering inputs, preparing fabrication and assembly drawings, updating models based on design changes, and maintaining drawing standards and documentation. The role also involves collaborating with design, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues, support prototyping, and ensure manufacturability and accuracy of drawings. The SolidWorks Draftsperson will contribute to continuous improvement of design practices and drawing libraries to support efficient and reliable machine production.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 2D drafting and 3D modeling, including parts, assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, tolerances, fits, and manufacturing processes such as fabrication, machining, and welding.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches, technical specifications, and machine layouts, and convert them into accurate CAD drawings.
- Experience preparing bill of materials (BOMs), revision control, and maintaining organized drawing and document records.
- Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify and correct design or drafting errors.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with design, production, and quality teams on-site.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Prior experience in industrial machinery, heavy equipment, or fabrication-based environments; exposure to drum or barrel machinery is an advantage.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Mumbai and manage multiple drafting tasks within project deadlines.
