Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a focus on foundational image models. This role is a unique opportunity to become a founding team member of an early-stage startup and contribute to building a product, team and business from scratch.

Role Description

• Design, implement, and deploy machine learning models focusing on deep learning techniques, specifically for image processing and time series forecasting.
• Work extensively with satellite imagery analysis and develop proprietary models using a large amount of input data including satellite imagery and NWP forecasts for applications in solar energy and weather forecasting.
• Lead the Machine Learning team and mentor junior engineers. Collaborate closely with a dynamic team to innovate and develop new products, contributing directly to the strategic direction set by the founders.
• Engage in research and development to push the boundaries of what is possible with machine learning in the solar energy sector.
• Deploy models in an AWS environment, leveraging SageMaker and other AWS tools for scalable and efficient machine learning solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 3-4 years of machine learning experience, with a proven track record of delivering M.L. products.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in developing deep learning models, especially for image processing and time series forecasting. Experience with satellite images will be a significant advantage.
• Cloud and Deployment: Strong ability to deploy models in an AWS environment using SageMaker and other AWS tools. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services is required.
• Programming: Technical knowledge of PyTorch and PyTorch Lightning is essential. Prior experience using these technologies for model development and deployment is highly valued.
• Startup Mindset: Prior experience in working with startups to build new products is a bonus. A flexible and collaborative approach to problem-solving is essential.
• Leadership: Skills to mentor junior ML engineers, contribute to system design and contribute to high-level strategy and decision-making processes.
