Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Solar PV Design Engineer role based in Mysore. A Solar PV Design Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and supporting the execution of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The role involves developing detailed engineering designs, performing energy and shading analysis, preparing electrical and structural documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. The engineer will work closely with project managers, installers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop detailed electrical and structural layouts for rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems.
• Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including:
· AC & DC Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
· Panel layouts
· String configurations
· AC/DC cable sizing
· Earthing and protection calculations
· Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Perform energy yield simulations and system optimization using Helioscope/PVsyst/Aurora Solar/ OpenSolar, or equivalent software.
• Develop designs in compliance with relevant electrical standards, utility requirements, and safety regulations.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of monitoring systems, protection schemes, communication architecture, and system integration for solar PV installations.
• Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications, RFQs, and evaluating solar equipment.
• Coordinate closely with project managers, installation teams, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide technical support during site execution, installation, testing, and commissioning, resolving design-related issues when required.
• Interact effectively with installers and other project stakeholders to ensure designs are executed accurately.
• Work with CRM and project management tools to support project documentation and tracking.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Qualification: BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
· Experience: 3–4 years of experience in Commercial & Industrial Solar PV system design.
· Hands-on experience in preparing AC & DC Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and complete engineering design packages.
· Practical exposure to site execution, installation support, commissioning, and coordination with installers and contractors.
· Good understanding of solar PV systems, monitoring & protection systems, electrical distribution, and grid compliance.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and solar design software such as Helioscope, PVsyst, Aurora Solar, OpenSolar, or equivalent.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
· Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients, installers, and cross-functional teams.
· Experience working with CRM or project management tools is an added advantage.
· Willingness to work flexible shifts based on business requirements.
