Job Title: Solar Design & Cost Optimization Engineer
Location: PAN India
About the Role:
We need an experienced Solar Design & Cost Optimization Engineer to lead the technical design and commercial optimization of large-scale solar power projects (utility-scale and C&I) across India.
This role is critical in ensuring high-performance system design while minimizing project costs without compromising quality or compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design utility-scale solar PV systems (MW-scale) including layout, SLDs, and system architecture
- Optimize DC/AC ratios, inverter selection, and plant configuration for maximum yield and ROI
- Perform detailed cost optimization across BOS (Balance of System), EPC, and procurement
- Work closely with procurement and vendor teams to reduce capex without affecting performance
- Conduct energy yield simulations using tools like PVsyst and Helioscope
- Evaluate new technologies (string vs central inverters, trackers vs fixed tilt, etc.)
- Support tendering, bid preparation, and technical proposals
- Collaborate with execution teams to ensure design-to-site alignment
- Analyse project financials including LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) and payback
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3–6+ years’ experience in solar PV design, especially MW-scale projects
- Strong hands-on experience with PVsyst, AutoCAD, and plant design tools
- Deep understanding of Indian solar market, EPC practices, and regulatory standards
- Experience in cost benchmarking and vendor negotiation is a big plus
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with hybrid systems (solar + battery storage)
- Knowledge of SCADA, grid integration, and protection systems
- - Familiarity with financial modelling for solar projects
