Role Description
The QAE / Software Testing Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of software and integrated systems through systematic testing activities. The role involves understanding customer technical requirements, executing the complete testing lifecycle, and collaborating closely with hardware, software, and system engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Understand and analyze technical requirements received from customers.
- Write, review, and refine test cases for assessments such as ISA (Independent Safety Assessment).
- Understand system specifications and tailor test scenarios based on customer requirements.
- Own and execute the complete test lifecycle from test bench setup through test execution and final documentation.
- Assemble test benches and perform wiring of devices as required for system testing.
- Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders including hardware, software, and system engineers.
- Support testing of systems involving CPU / PLC-based logic.
- Prepare and maintain structured test reports, traceability matrices, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure adherence to applicable standards, quality processes, and safety requirements during testing activities.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Exposure to CPU / PLC programming concepts.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Structured Text (ST), Ladder Logic, or C is an added advantage.
- Exposure to railway safety and software standards such as EN 50129 and EN 50657 is an added advantage.
- Ability to read, understand, and work with system-level specifications and technical documentation.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- 3–5 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or system testing in safety-critical or embedded system environments.
- Hands-on experience in test case development, test execution, defect tracking, and test documentation.
- Experience working with hardware-in-the-loop setups, test benches, or integrated system testing is preferred.
- Prior exposure to railway, industrial automation, or similar regulated domains is an advantage.
Qualifications & Profile
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electronics or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong interest and flair for developing, validating, and testing technical solutions.
- Exposure to railway domain standards and safety-critical systems is an advantage.
- Good written and spoken English communication skills; knowledge of German is an added advantage.
- Structured, careful, and solution-oriented way of working.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
Important Note
- This role involves hands‑on system and test bench testing (not only manual software testing).
- Candidates with experience only in UI / web application testing may find this role unsuitable.
- Test documentation and structured reporting are core responsibilities of this role.
- Experience in safety‑critical or regulated environments is strongly preferred
