About The Role
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Engineering Manager to lead a service group within our critical Decision Management Platform dedicated to fraud detection. This pivotal role involves driving engineering excellence, scaling delivery capabilities, and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for aligning engineering strategies with overarching business goals, mentoring high-performing teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-volume, low-latency software solutions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on industry-leading fraud prevention solutions, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to combat financial crime effectively.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. They will have over 15 years of extensive experience in software engineering and architecture, particularly within mission-critical, distributed, and scalable systems. Proven expertise in developing high-volume transaction applications, with a background in fintech, digital payments, authentication, or identity systems, is essential. The candidate should have a solid understanding of security protocols, secure software development lifecycle (SDLC), PCI compliance, and operational excellence practices such as observability and reliability engineering. Experience leading organizational transformations or platform evolutions is highly desirable. Additionally, strong technical acumen in modern software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and service-oriented systems, coupled with excellent leadership and communication skills, is required to succeed in this role.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Define and implement the engineering strategy aligned with Mastercard’s business objectives, ensuring technological innovation and operational excellence.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products on schedule and within budget.
- Promote engineering best practices, including DevOps, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), observability, and agile methodologies.
- Identify potential technical and delivery risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure project milestones are met.
People Leadership & Coaching
- Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams through effective career development, coaching, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous learning within the engineering organization.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
Operational Excellence
- Own the entire software delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment and ongoing support.
- Continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and metrics to optimize team performance and product quality.
- Ensure operational readiness, including incident response, system monitoring, and maintaining high service reliability.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with Product, Operations, and Business stakeholders to define project scope, prioritize initiatives, and develop roadmaps.
- Effectively communicate technical vision, progress, and challenges to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
- Represent the engineering function in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation discussions.
