About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves contributing to projects that aim to improve the understanding and performance of LLMs in solving realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public GitHub repositories and possess hands-on experience in software development, environment automation, and issue triaging. Your expertise will help shape the future of AI-assisted software development by evaluating codebases, enhancing test coverage, and collaborating with researchers to identify challenging repositories for LLMs. This is an excellent opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and be at the forefront of AI research in software engineering.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby, with a solid understanding of software development best practices.
- Strong experience with version control systems, particularly Git, and containerization tools like Docker.
- Ability to understand, navigate, and modify complex codebases effectively.
- Experience setting up and configuring development environments, including automation and pipeline setup.
- Familiarity with open-source projects, contribution processes, and evaluation methodologies is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in testing and quality assessment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source repositories to identify areas for improvement and evaluation.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment management, to facilitate testing and development.
- Assess unit test coverage and quality, providing insights to enhance repository robustness.
- Modify, run, and debug codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that challenge LLM capabilities.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Document processes, findings, and recommendations to support ongoing research and development efforts.
