About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in contributing to our groundbreaking project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets tailored for realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of high-quality public GitHub repositories and possess the skills necessary to contribute to the development, automation, and evaluation of software engineering tasks. Responsibilities include automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality across various codebases. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and AI research, impacting how AI models understand and interact with complex code.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with demonstrated expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and experience setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates must be comfortable navigating and understanding complex codebases, running and modifying projects locally, and evaluating code quality. Experience contributing to open-source projects or working with large-scale repositories is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are also required.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues reported on GitHub across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and other automation tools, to streamline project workflows.
- Evaluate unit test coverage, quality, and effectiveness to ensure robustness of codebases.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code comprehension scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that present challenges for LLMs, contributing to dataset expansion and quality.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring the successful execution of project tasks.
