About the Role

Our partner is seeking a Software Engineer II – Back End to join our API team. The ideal candidate thrives in a distributed systems environment and enjoys working across a variety of tools, languages, and architectures while building highly scalable backend services for their core ticketing platforms. You will design and build high-throughput, low-latency microservices that support both consumer-facing and B2B applications, operating at global scale and under extreme peak demand (e.g., onsales for major tours and sporting events).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve backend microservices and APIs that power our global ticketing and distribution platforms
• Build highly scalable, fault-tolerant services capable of handling massive concurrent load and traffic spikes.
• Own services end-to-end, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews, influencing best practices and long-term platform direction.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code, following modern engineering standards and patterns.
• Implement observability (logging, metrics, tracing) to ensure system reliability and performance in production.
• Contribute to improving platform reliability, performance, and developer productivity.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend and distributed systems.
• BS in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)

Required Skills

• Strong experience building microservices-based architectures in production at scale.
• Proficiency in C# and .NET Core, including asynchronous programming and performance optimization.
• Experience designing, building and operating high-volume, low-latency transactional systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (or equivalent cloud platform) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and current deployment strategies.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, SNS/SQS, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with API versioning, backward compatibility, and contract-driven development.
• Understanding of system resiliency patterns (circuit breakers, retries, rate limiting, idempotency).
• Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them pragmatically
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-impact environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience with high-traffic consumer platforms or e-commerce systems.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with security best practices for APIs (OAuth, JWT, secrets management)
