We are looking for a Software Engineer - Guidewire for our Claims Guidewire platform, who is a technology enthusiast, and eager to be part of a culture of modern software engineering practices, continuous improvement, and innovation.
In this role, the Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications or systems. They possess a deep understanding of programming languages, software development frameworks, and best practices. The Software Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and develop high-quality software solutions. They are involved in the entire software development life cycle, including coding, testing, debugging, deployment and support. The Software Engineer actively participates in code reviews, provides technical guidance and support to junior team members, and ensures adherence to coding standards and project timelines. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent programming abilities, and a commitment to delivering robust and scalable software solutions. As part of the platform team, the software Engineer is responsible for providing the Application support as well.
This role includes participation in an on-call rota to ensure the availability and support of critical systems operations outside of standard working hours, including nights, weekend and bank holidays.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design and develop software applications: Deliver software development tasks for Claims Guidewire platform, including Claim Center and Digital Applications, with expected quality measures and timeframe, e.g., technical design, coding, writing unit test cases (G-Unit) and unit testing, debugging and defect fixing, providing test support, release support and maintenance.
- Ensure Code Quality and Compliance: Adopting best practices and tools to improve code quality, maintainability, and adherence to Guidewire coding standards resulting in compliance towards Guidewire cloud Assurance. Collaborate with team members to address any issues and ensure code quality is upheld.
- Perform testing and debugging: Conduct unit testing and integration testing of software modules to ensure their functionality and reliability. Provide Test support during various testing phases. Debug and resolve software defects to deliver bug-free software solutions.
- Application Production Support: Provide Technical support for the Guidewire Application users while troubleshooting and researching issues reported in Production, perform root cause analysis and document them, respond to and resolve technical issues in a timely manner as per priority and urgency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team: Work closely with stakeholders, product managers, and designers to understand business requirements and user needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and deliver software solutions that meet customer expectations.
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL SKILLS
- 2-4 years of development experience on Guidewire cloud platform and applications, Guidewire certification preferred
- Hands on development expertise on Guidewire platform (for Core Claims and Digital Applications)
- Experience in Guidewire platform (Gosu scripting / Edge APIs / UI / Data Model)
- Experience on any database Oracle / SQL Server and well versed in SQL
- Experience of working in a CI/CD setup and related tools/technologies
- In-depth understanding of the software development process, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment. Familiarity with agile methodologies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve complex technical problems. Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
- Insurance domain knowledge with Property & Casualty background preferred
