About WhiteBird
WhiteBird is an AI-first startup building multi-tenant SaaS for higher education. Colleges and universities run on software that is a decade behind; we are replacing it with a modern product suite where every institution gets its own deployment, data, and customisations.
We are a small team of engineers. Code you write ships to real institutions in days, not quarters, and you will see it land. There is nobody between you and the product.
About the role
As a Software Engineer (Full-Stack), you will own work from schema to UI to production, with no handoffs. You will build and ship products across a TypeScript, Next.js, Node/Bun, Postgres and Prisma stack while taking responsibility for deployment, automation and long-term maintenance.
What you will do
- Ship full-stack features end to end: Next.js frontends, Node/Bun APIs and Postgres schemas.
- Build new products from zero, taking an empty repository all the way to production.
- Own deployment and infrastructure, including Vercel projects, database provisioning, migrations, environment configuration and CI/CD.
- Work on a multi-tenant architecture where deployment is a first-class engineering problem.
- Automate repetitive work through internal CLI tooling, deployment scripts and sync automation.
- Make architecture decisions early and maintain those decisions as the products grow.
What we are looking for
- 1–3 years of experience building and shipping real software. Freshers with a strong portfolio of deployed work are encouraged to apply; we judge the work, not just the years.
- Strong TypeScript skills. It is the language of our entire stack.
- Real Next.js and Node/Bun experience, including App Router, server components and the production details that matter.
- Comfort with databases: schema design, migrations and reliable queries. We use Postgres with Prisma.
- Shipped, functional applications that people have used—not only tutorials or unfinished side projects.
- Experience with Tailwind and shadcn/ui, or the ability to pick them up quickly.
- Genuine curiosity about how systems work. You read the source when documentation is thin, have opinions about architecture and can defend them.
Bonus, not blockers
- Experience with multi-tenant or multi-deployment architectures.
- Git beyond the basics, including rebase, cherry-pick and resolving real conflicts.
- Docker and self-hosted deployments.
- GitHub Actions.
- Experience maintaining software with real users.
AI-native is a hard requirement
You should already use tools such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor as a core part of how you build, daily, not occasionally. We are looking for someone who has rewired their workflow around these tools and ships at a pace that demonstrates it.
- You can take an idea to working code in hours, not days.
- You direct AI tools with strong context and tight feedback loops, and know when to stop and write the code yourself.
- You review generated code critically; speed without judgment only creates faster bugs.
- If you can describe your AI workflow in specific detail, you will stand out.
What you get
- Your name on whole products: you will be able to point at an app and say you built it.
- A small team with no layers, stand-up theatre or long waits for decisions.
- A capable laptop and the AI subscriptions you need, paid for.
- Hybrid work: deep work can happen at home and decisions happen together in the room.
- Early ownership and growth without waiting in a promotion queue.
- Exposure to hard problems early, including multi-tenant architecture, deployment automation and running a fleet with a small team.
- Dehradun at the foot of the Himalayas, with short commutes and easy access to Mussoorie and Rishikesh.
