DO NOT APPLY, IF YOU HAVE NOT WORKED WITH SELF-SOVEREIGN IDENTITY, THIS POSITION IS FOR BACKEND SELF-SOVEREIGN IDENTITY DEVELOPMENT. YOUR CV AND PAST PROJECTS SHOULD SHOW THAT, WRONGLY ANSWERING SCREENING QUESTIONS COULD DISQUALIFY YOU FOR FUTURE ROLES.
Hovi is building the digital identity infrastructure for the EUDI Wallet and eIDAS 2.0 ecosystem. We're a small, distributed team shipping production identity systems for customers across the EU, LATAM, and APAC.
We're looking for an engineer who has built real credential ecosystems and knows the protocols from the inside, not just from the spec.
What you'll do
- Build and extend issuance and verification flows across OID4VCI, OID4VP, SD-JWT VC, and mdoc (ISO 18013-5/7)
- Own backend services in TypeScript/NestJS with Postgres, Redis, and message queues
- Integrate with IAM stacks (Keycloak, OIDC) and wallet ecosystems
- Harden our platform with solid observability, CI/CD, and security practices
- Help shape architecture as standards evolve under eIDAS 2.0
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of backend engineering, with hands-on work in decentralized identity or verifiable credentials
- Experience with OID4VC protocols and W3C VC / DID data models
- Strong Node.js, TypeScript, and Postgres skills
- Comfortable with Docker, CI/CD, and observability tooling (OTEL, ELK or similar)
- Able to work independently in a remote team and communicate clearly in English
Nice to have
- Contributions to open-source identity projects (Credo-TS, Aries, OWF, etc.)
- Experience with FIDO/passkeys or wallet-based authentication
- Involvement with DIF, OpenID Foundation, ToIP, or similar communities
- Familiarity with ARF, HAIP, or EUDI Wallet conformance work
Why Hovi
- You'll work on infrastructure that governments and enterprises are adopting right now, with real ownership and direct impact on the product.
