About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is pivotal in building datasets that enable LLMs to address realistic software engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing and working with high-quality public GitHub repositories, contributing to automation, issue triaging, and test coverage evaluations. As a key member of our team, you will play an active role in shaping the future of AI-assisted software development by developing and refining datasets, tools, and processes that support our research objectives. The position offers an excellent opportunity to lead technical initiatives, collaborate with researchers, and influence the evolution of AI in software engineering.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby. Strong familiarity with version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and basic software pipeline setup is essential. Candidates should have the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify projects locally, and evaluate code quality and test coverage effectively. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable. Additionally, excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset are important for success in this role. Previous participation in LLM research or development of automation tools will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source repositories on GitHub, identifying challenges relevant to LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment management, to streamline project workflows.
- Assess and improve unit test coverage and code quality within various repositories.
- Modify, run, and debug codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to identify repositories and issues that present meaningful challenges for LLMs, contributing to dataset creation and testing protocols.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows, tools, and methodologies for dataset development and evaluation.
Benefits
Joining Turing offers numerous advantages, including the flexibility of a fully remote work environment, enabling you to work from anywhere. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading LLM companies, gaining valuable experience at the forefront of AI research and development. The role provides a flexible schedule with options for part-time or full-time engagement, accommodating your personal and professional commitments. Additionally, you will be part of a forward-thinking organization that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
