About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our groundbreaking project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role requires a deep understanding of high-quality public repositories on GitHub and the ability to contribute actively to the development of verifiable software engineering tasks based on real-world data. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for hands-on software engineering tasks, including automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and AI research, directly influencing how LLMs interact with and understand complex codebases.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby. Strong familiarity with version control systems like Git, containerization tools like Docker, and basic software pipeline setup is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to navigate and understand complex codebases, modify and run projects locally, and evaluate code quality effectively. Experience contributing to open-source projects or participating in open-source evaluations is highly desirable. Additionally, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues reported in GitHub repositories, focusing on trending open-source libraries.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and dependency management.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess the quality of codebases to ensure robustness.
- Modify and execute code locally to test LLM performance, particularly in bug-fixing scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to identify repositories and issues that challenge LLMs, contributing to dataset expansion and refinement.
- Potentially lead a team of junior engineers, providing guidance and mentorship on project tasks and best practices.
Benefits
Joining Turing offers numerous advantages, including the flexibility of a fully remote work environment, allowing you to work from anywhere in the world. You will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge AI projects and collaborate with industry-leading experts in the field. This role provides a platform to enhance your skills in software engineering and AI research, contributing to impactful projects that shape the future of AI-assisted software development. Additionally, Turing promotes a culture of continuous learning and innovation, supporting your professional growth and development in a dynamic setting.
