What you'll actually own
You build the applications and tools that turn Zooly's sensors into something people can use: device connectivity, data acquisition, calibration, visualization, storage, reporting, and the internal tools the whole team relies on. You work on one shared platform across the hip, knee, and shoulder products, so what you build gets used everywhere, not thrown away after one project. The best software here is creative and simple at once. If the team moves fast and the products feel solid, it will be in part because of the software you built.

About Zooly
Zooly Labs is on a mission to make advanced surgical guidance more accessible for joint replacement surgery. Joint replacement can restore mobility and quality of life, yet surgeons often have limited objective information during the procedure to assess joint behavior and guide decisions. We build AI-guided technology that combines intelligent sensing, real-time data, and decision support with familiar surgical workflows and standard instruments, without large capital equipment. We are an early-stage company building a scalable platform across hip, knee, and shoulder.

What this role is really like
This is a hands-on role at a fast-growing startup racing real deadlines. You will build a feature, debug why a device stream misbehaves, write the tests, and document it, all in the same week. Your work is used by the whole company, so quality and clarity matter. If you want a rigid spec handed to you and a narrow lane, this is not the role. If you want real ownership and to build things people depend on, it is.
What you'll do
- Build features for sensor connectivity, data acquisition, calibration, visualization, storage, reporting, and internal tools.
- Build reusable platform modules instead of one-off, joint-specific solutions wherever you can.
- Take part in sprint planning, design and code reviews, test planning, and documentation.
- Investigate defects and failures and write up root cause and the fix.
- Keep configuration control, test evidence, and clean engineering records.
- Work closely with the product engineers, the US platform leads, and quality/regulatory contributors.
What you need to be able to do
These are capabilities, not credentials. If you can do these things, we want to talk regardless of how many years it took you to get here.
- You have built maintainable application software, APIs, automated tests, data-processing tools, or device-connected apps using modern version control and code review.
- You are strong in at least one relevant language (Python, C++, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Dart/Flutter, Swift/Kotlin, or similar).
- You can debug hardware-connected software and work with streaming data, async communication, device logs, and communication protocols.
- You write unit and integration tests and contribute to CI/CD, release documentation, defect resolution, and configuration management.
- You solve problems, document clearly, and collaborate well in a distributed, multidisciplinary team.
- A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is common in people who do this well, but the ability above matters more than the diploma.
What would make you a strong fit
- Experience with BLE, Wi-Fi, serial interfaces, sensors, embedded devices, robotics, medical-device applications, or real-time visualization.
- Experience with cross-platform desktop/mobile frameworks, data visualization, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or internal engineering tools.
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, cybersecurity practices, regulated software documentation, and requirements traceability.
- Experience supporting clinical, laboratory, or manufacturing workflows.
How this role works with the rest of the team
You are part of one shared engineering team. You are based in India, but the backlog, architecture, and design reviews are global. You work closely with the US engineers across overlapping hours, and what you build serves every product, so you are never siloed on a single joint.
