About The Flight Data Intelligence (FDI) Team
This role sits within Acron Aviation’s Flight Data Intelligence organization, which builds cloud‑based analytics platforms that ingest, process, and analyze large volumes of flight and operational data to support aviation safety, operational insight, and performance improvement. We are building a new, dedicated FDI engineering team in Bangalore, India. This team is a core product‑engineering group that contributes directly to the quality, reliability, and trustworthiness of customer‑facing analytics software.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to support automated quality systems for our Flight Data Analytics platform. This is a mid‑level role focused on API‑level test automation, CI/CD‑integrated testing, and practical test strategy. The position combines hands‑on automation with manual and exploratory testing and is well suited for an engineer who has owned portions of a test framework or pipeline and is ready to grow further in system‑level quality and test strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Automation and Test Execution:
- Develop and maintain automated API‑level tests for backend services and data workflows
- Contribute to integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Investigate test failures and support root‑cause analysis to distinguish between product defects, test issues, and environment problems
- Maintain and enhance existing test automation frameworks under guidance from senior engineers
Test Strategy And Quality Contribution
- Analyze requirements and user stories to identify test scenarios, edge cases, and negative paths
- Apply risk‑based testing principles to determine appropriate test coverage
- Use automated, manual, and exploratory testing techniques based on context and value
- Execute functional, regression, and release testing to support reliable deployments
Collaboration
- Work closely with software engineers and product partners to improve quality and testability earlier in the development lifecycle
- Participate in code and design discussions with a quality and risk perspective
- Contribute to test documentation and shared quality practices within the team
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 4–7 years of experience in software testing or quality engineering roles
- Hands‑on experience with automated API testing
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines that execute automated tests
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks and maintaining automated test suites
- Understanding of test strategy concepts, including risk‑based testing
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing cloud‑based or SaaS applications
- Exposure to multi‑tenant systems, role‑based access, or data‑driven platforms
- Familiarity with Python‑based test automation
- Experience with Docker‑based environments
- Exposure to AWS‑hosted systems
- Interest in growing deeper in test strategy, framework ownership, and CI/CD quality practices
