About The Role
Mu Sigma Inc. is seeking a talented Software Developer specializing in PHP and WordPress to join our engineering team in Bengaluru on an on-site basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to own the full lifecycle of Mu Sigma’s web platforms, including WordPress development, third-party integrations, CI/CD pipelines, and release governance. As a core member of the development team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining our internal portals and external websites, ensuring their operational health, security, and performance. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience with WordPress internals, PHP, JavaScript, and DevSecOps practices, with a keen eye for security, quality, and continuous improvement. This position provides a clear growth trajectory towards technical leadership and mentoring roles within the organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 3-4 years of professional experience in web development. Proficiency in WordPress internals, including plugin API, theme hierarchy, REST API, and custom plugin development, is essential. Strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3 is required. Experience with REST/SOAP API integrations, OAuth2/JWT, and database management with MySQL or MariaDB is also necessary. Familiarity with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Linux fundamentals will be highly advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive ownership mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Platform Development
- Design, develop, and maintain WordPress sites and internal portals, including themes, templates, Gutenberg components, and custom plugins utilizing hooks, filters, REST API, and data handling techniques.
- Integrate third-party services such as authentication providers, CRMs, analytics, and communication tools through REST APIs and web hooks.
- Write clean, performant PHP and JavaScript code, implementing responsive and accessible user interfaces based on design mockups.
DevSecOps & Change Management
- Own and manage CI/CD pipelines across development, staging, and production environments, leveraging Docker for containerization and ensuring environment consistency.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including OWASP principles, dependency audits, access control, and secure communication protocols like HTTPS/TLS.
- Lead release change management activities, including impact assessments, rollback planning, and stakeholder communication during scheduled release windows.
- Monitor platform health, triage incidents, and perform root cause analysis to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications in collaboration with product managers.
- Review and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including runbooks, architecture decisions, deployment procedures, and API references to ensure operational clarity and knowledge sharing.
