About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer specializing in PHP and WordPress platform engineering to join Mu Sigma's dynamic technology team in Bengaluru. This on-site role offers an exciting opportunity to own the full lifecycle of Mu Sigma's web platforms, including WordPress development, third-party integrations, and deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in WordPress internals, PHP, JavaScript, and DevSecOps practices, with a passion for building scalable, secure, and high-performance web solutions. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal portals and websites, integrating various third-party services, and ensuring the operational health of our platforms. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (BE / B. Tech).
- 3-4 years of professional experience in web development, with a focus on PHP and WordPress.
- Strong understanding of WordPress internals, including plugin API, theme hierarchy, REST API, and Gutenberg components.
- Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience with REST/SOAP API integrations, OAuth2/JWT authentication mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with version control systems, particularly Git, including branching strategies, pull requests, and release management.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, and Linux basics such as shell scripting and log management.
- Familiarity with security best practices, OWASP principles, and vulnerability mitigation techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
Platform Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain WordPress sites and internal portals, including themes, templates, Gutenberg blocks, and custom plugins utilizing hooks, filters, and REST APIs.
- Integrate platforms with third-party services such as authentication providers, CRMs, analytics tools, and communication platforms through RESTful APIs and webhooks.
- Implement responsive, accessible user interfaces based on design mockups, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization.
DevSecOps & Change Management
- Own and manage CI/CD pipelines across development, staging, and production environments, leveraging tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Manage Docker-based containerization to ensure environment consistency and deployment efficiency.
- Enforce security protocols, including OWASP guidelines, dependency audits, access controls, and secure communication protocols (HTTPS/TLS).
- Lead release change management processes, including impact assessments, rollback strategies, and stakeholder communication, typically on a quarterly basis.
- Monitor platform health, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root cause analysis to ensure high availability and reliability.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications in collaboration with product managers and stakeholders.
- Review code contributions from junior developers and provide mentorship to foster technical growth within the team.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture decisions, deployment procedures, runbooks, and API references.
