About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Software Developer specializing in PHP and WordPress to join our Org-platform Engineering team in Bengaluru. This role is pivotal in owning the full lifecycle management of Mu Sigma’s web platforms, including WordPress development, third-party integrations, CI/CD pipelines, and release governance. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of experience, a strong technical foundation, and a passion for building robust, scalable, and secure web solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical platforms that serve thousands of Mu Sigma employees and clients daily. The role involves collaborating closely with product managers, senior developers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions, ensuring platform stability, security, and continuous improvement. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Proven experience in WordPress development, including plugin and theme customization, REST API integrations, and front-end technologies, is essential. Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3 is required. Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, OAuth2/JWT authentication mechanisms, and database management with MySQL or MariaDB is necessary. Experience with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, and Linux system basics is critical for success in this role. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive ownership attitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible, and observability tools like Grafana or Datadog are considered advantageous but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
Platform Development: Develop and maintain WordPress sites, internal portals, themes, templates, Gutenberg components, and custom plugins utilizing hooks, filters, REST API, and data handling techniques. Ensure the platforms are scalable, secure, and performant. Integrate third-party services such as authentication providers, CRMs, analytics, and communication tools through REST APIs and webhooks. Write clean, efficient PHP and JavaScript code, implementing responsive and accessible user interfaces based on design mockups.
DevSecOps & Change Management: Own and manage CI/CD pipelines across development, staging, and production environments, leveraging Docker-based containerization for consistency and scalability. Enforce security best practices aligned with OWASP principles, conduct dependency audits, manage access controls, and ensure secure communication protocols such as HTTPS/TLS. Lead release change management activities, including impact assessments, rollback planning, stakeholder communication, and scheduling releases approximately 1–2 times per quarter. Monitor platform health, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to maintain operational stability.
Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications. Review code contributions from junior developers, providing mentorship and guidance to foster growth. Maintain comprehensive documentation, including runbooks, architecture decisions, deployment procedures, and API references, to ensure knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
