Social Media Research & Trends Analyst
Department: Marketing / Social Media
Reports To: Social Media Manager / Head of Marketing
Experience: 0-1 Years
Location: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full-Time
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a sharp, digitally savvy Social Media Research & Trends Analyst to join our growing EdTech marketing team. In this role you will be the "eyes and ears" of our brand across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms — monitoring trending topics, viral content formats, meme culture, and competitor activity to fuel data-driven content strategies that drive leads, follower growth, and brand reach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Trend Research & Monitoring
• Monitor real-time trending topics, hashtags, audio clips, and content formats across Instagram Reels, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn daily.
• Track education and EdTech-specific conversations, viral memes, and cultural moments relevant to our course offerings.
• Use tools such as Google Trends, Meta Business Suite Insights, YouTube Studio, LinkedIn Analytics, BuzzSumo, and social listening platforms (e.g., Brandwatch, Sprout Social) to surface insights.
Competitive & Audience Intelligence
• Conduct regular audits of competitor social media pages to benchmark content performance and identify content gaps.
• Analyse audience behaviour, engagement patterns, and peak activity windows to recommend optimal posting schedules.
• Study top EdTech creators and influencers to identify content styles that resonate with students and working professionals.
Content Ideation & Briefing
• Translate research findings into actionable content briefs for the creative and copywriting teams (carousels, Reels scripts, meme formats, YouTube thumbnails, LinkedIn articles, etc.).
• Curate a weekly "Trend Report" summarising top opportunities, relevant memes, and platform algorithm updates.
• Suggest course-specific content hooks that can be tied to trending topics to improve organic reach and lead generation.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
• Track KPIs — reach, impressions, engagement rate, follower growth, CTR, and lead conversions — for all published content.
• Prepare monthly performance dashboards and present findings to the marketing team with clear, data-backed recommendations.
• A/B test content ideas and report on what drives the highest engagement and qualified leads.
Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with the content creation, design, paid media, and SEO teams to align social media research with broader campaigns.
• Coordinate with the sales team to understand lead quality and refine social targeting insights accordingly.
• Stay updated on platform algorithm changes and proactively share updates with the team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in any field.
• 1–3 years of experience in social media research, digital marketing, or content strategy is preferred (EdTech experience is a plus).
• Deep, hands-on familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn — including their native analytics dashboards.
• Demonstrated ability to spot trends early and translate them into content opportunities.
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
• Excellent written communication skills for preparing research briefs and trend reports.
• Proficiency with social listening / analytics tools is preferred (Google Trends, Meta Insights, BuzzSumo, Sprout Social, or similar).
• Self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple research threads simultaneously.
GOOD TO HAVE
• Experience with paid social advertising research (Meta Ads Library, YouTube Ads transparency).
• Basic video editing or graphic design skills (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express) to mock up content ideas.
• Familiarity with SEO tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs) and understanding of how SEO intersects with social discoverability.
• Prior experience in an EdTech, e-learning, or education-adjacent organisation.
• Active personal social media presence with a track record of content creation or community engagement.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS)
• Weekly Trend Reports delivered on time with actionable content ideas.
• Growth in organic reach and impressions across social platforms (MoM).
• Increase in engagement rate (likes, comments, shares, saves) on published content.
• Number of content briefs produced that are directly adopted by the creative team.
• Contribution to lead generation growth tracked through UTM-tagged social campaigns.
• Accuracy and relevance of trend predictions (tracked via post-performance reviews).

• Social Platforms: Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Pinterest
• Analytics: Meta Business Suite, YouTube Studio, LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics 4
