We’re hiring!
Social Media & Performance Marketing Manager
Location: Lucknow, India
· Full-time · On-site Reports to: Founder, alongside the creative team
In short: Own Colorothon’s digital voice and paid growth across Instagram and two LinkedIn handles. Turn ten seasons of archive into a weekly content engine and run Meta and Google that bring in registrations, artist applications, and sponsor leads.
About Colorothon
Colorothon isn’t a brand in the conventional sense. It’s a participatory art festival and a movement that turns public spaces into welcoming canvases, where families, children, youth, artists and seniors paint side by side. Across ten seasons, we’ve grown from a single afternoon of color into a national-scale platform for expression.
In 2019, our team helped the Government of Uttar Pradesh enter the Guinness World Records for the Most Contributions to a Handprint Painting in 8 Hours, a record built from 7,664 individual handprints, each one belonging to a real participant.
Our three pillars: Participation. Expression. Scale.
Our taglines: “Draw Your Imagination.” / “Together We Paint.”
The Role
We’re looking for one thoughtful, hands-on manager to own Colorothon’s digital voice. You won’t be running a product page, you’ll be stewarding a movement, turning ten seasons of art, color and human moments into content people stop scrolling for, and into campaigns that bring new participants, artists, sponsors and cities into the fold. You’ll work directly with the founder and creative team. The work is part editorial, part strategist, part archivist, part media buyer.
What You’ll Own
Social presence
• Plan, create, schedule and grow @colorothonindia on Instagram - feed, reels, stories, collaborations and community engagement.
• Run the Colorothon Foundation LinkedIn page as the official voice of the festival.
• Curate the Founder’s personal LinkedIn — thought leadership, behind-the-scenes, festival storytelling.
• Keep one unified content calendar across all three handles.
Performance Marketing
• Plan, launch and optimize paid campaigns on Meta and Google Ads across registrations, artist applications, sponsor leads, awareness and retargeting.
• Own targeting, A/B tests, creative iteration, budget allocation, pixel/conversion setup and reporting.
• Translate ad data back into content decisions - what hooks, what scrolls, what converts. Archive & storytelling (with creative-team support)
• Mine a decade of festival footage and stills - organized season by season across the VIBGYOR spectrum and turn forgotten frames into series, throwbacks, reels and carousels.
• Keep a clean, taggable library the team can pull from.
• Stay true to the Colorothon Brand Book: a warm, inclusive voice; real, candid photography; and the idea that art is participation, not output.
What Success Looks Like
(First 90 Days)
• 30 days: Audit channels and ads, align voice and content pillars, set up one calendar, and define targets with baseline reporting.
• 60 days: Ship 2–3 repeatable content series from the archive, launch always-on and retargeting foundations, and improve key metrics through weekly testing.
• 90 days: Run a predictable acquisition engine (registrations / artists / sponsors), deliver a festival-ready campaign playbook, and present a quarterly growth plan.
We’ll set specific targets together in your first two weeks - audience growth, qualified leads, registrations, and efficiency (CPA/CPL/ROAS) by campaign.
Who We’re Looking For
Colorothon isn’t a typical consumer brand. Our voice is warm, inclusive, slightly poetic and never corporate; and our audience is everyone: a six-year-old with a brush, a sixty-year-old picking one up for the first time, an artist applying for a wall, a CSR lead writing a sponsorship cheque.
You’ll likely thrive here if you:
• Bring 2–5 years of hands-on social media and paid-ads experience (cultural, non-profit, festival, sports or community brands a real plus).
• Have personally built and grown an Instagram handle, and can talk through what you tried, what worked, and what didn’t.
• Know your way around Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads, campaign structure, pixel/GA4, lookalikes, retargeting, creative testing, reporting.
• Write tight, declarative copy in English (Hindi is a plus).
• Can edit reels and short-form video (CapCut / Premiere / After Effects basics).
• See the human moment in 200 photos from a single festival day — and know that story matters more than scale.
• Are based in or open to relocating to Lucknow, and happy to be on the ground during festival days.
Education
We don’t require a specific degree or formal qualification. At Colorothon, the experience you bring and the work you’ve actually done matter far more to us than where or whether you studied. If you can show us the work, we want to hear from you.
Nice to Have
• Lightroom / Photoshop for processing RAW (.NEF) files.
• Experience pitching influencers, artists and ambassadors.
• Familiarity with Notion, Later/Buffer, Meta Business Suite, GA4, Looker Studio.
• Past work with founders, CSR teams or government partners.
What You Get from Us
• A movement with a decade of legacy and a Guinness World Record collaboration behind it.
• A direct working relationship with the founder and creative team — no five layers between you and the work.
• Real creative ownership across three handles and every paid rupee we spend.
• Compensation aligned with experience, plus on-ground access to every festival day, city and artist we touch.
How to Apply
Skip the generic cover letter. Send us four things:
• Your CV or LinkedIn.
• Handles you’ve personally run, what you grew them from / to, and what you actually did.
• One paid campaign you’re proud of - platform, objective, budget range, what you tested, what you learned.
• A 5–7 line note on what Colorothon means to you after ten minutes on @colorothonindia. Be honest, we’ll read it.
