Role Overview
The Social Media Intern will support the organisation’s digital presence by assisting in content planning, community engagement, and platform growth across social media channels. The role is designed to strengthen brand visibility, audience engagement, and digital storytelling while providing hands-on exposure to social media strategy and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Content Planning & Execution
- Assist in planning and executing the monthly social media content calendar across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Quora, and Reddit.
- Write engaging, platform-specific captions, hooks, and CTAs aligned with the organisation’s brand voice.
- Support the ideation and execution of short-form video content including Reels and trend-based content pieces.
- Repurpose blogs, videos, podcasts, and other long-form content into bite-sized social media formats.
Community Engagement
- Monitor comments, direct messages, and mentions across platforms and respond in a timely, professional, and brand-appropriate manner.
- Support social media contests, campaigns, and engagement initiatives.
- Identify audience trends and engagement patterns to improve content performance and interaction.
Research & Trend Monitoring
- Research trending audio, hashtags, formats, memes, and algorithm updates across platforms.
- Pitch timely and relevant content ideas aligned with ongoing social media trends.
- Stay updated with evolving social media practices and audience preferences.
Publishing & Reporting
- Schedule and publish content using social media management tools such as Buffer, Hootsuite, or Later.
- Track post-level performance metrics including reach, impressions, saves, shares, and engagement rates.
- Assist in preparing weekly and monthly social media performance reports.
Collaboration & Outreach
- Support influencer and collaborator identification for partnerships and outreach initiatives.
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather content inputs, updates, and campaign assets.
- Assist senior team members in executing digital communication campaigns and awareness initiatives.
Key Outcomes
- Consistent execution of the monthly social media content calendar.
- Improved audience engagement and social media interaction rates across platforms.
- Timely publishing and reporting of social media content and campaign performance.
- Increased reach and visibility through trend-based and platform-appropriate content.
- Development of engaging, high-quality social media creatives and copy.
Must-Have Requirements
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
- Ability to write concise, engaging, and audience-focused copy.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and digital trends.
- Basic understanding of social media scheduling and analytics tools.
- Proactive attitude with willingness to learn and experiment creatively.
Preferred Skills
- An educational background in Psychology is an asset.
- Interest in digital marketing, branding, and online community building.
- Prior internship, freelance, or campus experience in social media/content creation is an added advantage.
