Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a SOC L1 Trainee role at Tracelay. The Trainee will be responsible for supporting day-to-day SOC operations, including monitoring and analyzing security alerts, identifying potential threats, and escalating incidents to senior analysts as needed. Core responsibilities will include assisting in vulnerability assessments, generating incident reports, and contributing to maintaining an optimal security posture. The SOC L1 Trainee will collaborate with the cybersecurity team and continuously learn about evolving threats and advanced cybersecurity tools.

Qualifications
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, cyber threats, and basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls
- Proficiency with SIEM platforms, log analysis, and threat detection tools
- Ability to analyze and respond to security alerts and incidents
- Solid problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python or Bash) and using them in security operations is an advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively document and communicate findings
- A proactive learning mindset to adapt and grow in the fast-evolving cybersecurity field
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is a plus
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of security monitoring tools, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and incident reporting.
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including networks, endpoint security, and threat intelligence.
- Hands-on skills with log analysis, basic scripting, and identifying security vulnerabilities.
- Familiarity with operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and cloud environments.
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues effectively and work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
- Relevant coursework or experience in cybersecurity, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Problem-solving mindset with a commitment to continuous professional development. Completing Tracelay's bootcamp or similar training certifications is a bonus.
