Job SummaryThe SMT Specialist – Training & Installation will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, training, troubleshooting, and technical support of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment across customer locations. The role involves working closely with educational institutions, skill development centers, government projects, and industrial training facilities to ensure successful project implementation and knowledge transfer.
The candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in SMT manufacturing processes, PCB assembly, machine operation, preventive maintenance, and technical training.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Installation & Commissioning- Install, commission, and validate complete SMT production line equipment at customer locations.
- Perform machine setup, alignment, calibration, and functional testing as per OEM guidelines.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Coordinate with project teams, customers, and OEM representatives during installation and handover.
- Ensure proper electrical, pneumatic, and software integration of machines.
- Verify system performance before project completion.
2. Training & Skill Development- Conduct classroom and practical training on SMT manufacturing processes.
- Train faculty members, students, technicians, operators, and industry professionals.
- Deliver hands-on demonstrations on machine operation and maintenance.
- Develop training materials including:
- User Manuals
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Presentations
- Laboratory Exercises
- Practical Assignments
- Assessment Questionnaires
- Conduct Train-the-Trainer (ToT) programs.
- Assess trainee competency through practical and theoretical evaluations.
3. Technical Support- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software-related machine issues.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Support customers during production trials and process validation.
- Provide remote technical assistance whenever required.
- Coordinate with OEM service teams for advanced troubleshooting.
4. Process Optimization- Optimize SMT production processes to improve productivity and quality.
- Fine-tune machine parameters for different PCB assemblies.
- Analyze manufacturing defects and recommend corrective actions.
- Improve solder paste printing, component placement, and reflow profiles.
- Ensure compliance with IPC standards and electronics manufacturing best practices.
5. DocumentationPrepare and maintain:
- Installation Reports
- Commissioning Reports
- Training Reports
- Preventive Maintenance Records
- Service Reports
- Machine Checklists
- Customer Acceptance Documents
- Operating Procedures
- Technical Documentation
- Asset Handover Documents
6. Project Coordination- Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, project managers, procurement teams, and customers.
- Participate in technical discussions and project planning.
- Support technical proposal preparation.
- Assist in technical evaluation and selection of SMT equipment.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion.

- Mechanical Engineering (with SMT experience)
Experience- Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience in SMT production, machine installation, commissioning, maintenance, or process engineering.
- Experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) or SMT manufacturing environments.
- Prior experience in technical training, skill development, or educational laboratory setup is preferred.
