ABOUT THE ROLE
The Manufacturing & Tracking Equipment Specialist is a hands-on individual contributor role on the manufacturing team based at SMT’s Durham, NC headquarters. This position is responsible for the assembly, operation, and routine maintenance of the equipment used to produce SMT’s sports tracking technology and hardware, working alongside the production team to uphold quality and safety standards while contributing to ongoing efficiency improvements.
This position requires onsite reporting to SMT’s Durham, NC manufacturing location. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with production hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and occasional overtime may be required. The role also requires up to 25% travel — including Friday through Sunday weekends — to support field testing and on-site operation of tracking systems at sporting events.

WHAT YOU BRING TO SMT – Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow documented processes and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and computer data entry.
- Proficiency using measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, including weekends (Friday–Sunday).

Manufacturing: During an 8-hour shift, the employee is required to:
- Lift up to 60 pounds (occasionally 1–3 hours/shift).
- Climb a ladder up to 15 feet high.
- Walk and/or stand frequently throughout the shift (7–10 hours/shift), including standing for up to 8 hours.
- Routinely (3–7 hours/shift):
- Pinch and grasp hand tools.
- Twist, bend, and reach upward.
- Handle small screws, washers, and fasteners.
