Skilled Laborer / Heavy Equipment Operator- Highway
Town of Oak Bluffs is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Skilled Laborer or Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) position. Applicants who possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) are encouraged to apply; however, candidates may be hired without a CDL and will be given the opportunity to obtain one within the first two years of employment. All costs associated with obtaining the CDL will be covered by the Town of Oak Bluffs.
In general, this position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties for the Highway Department, including maintenance of municipal grounds, streets, sidewalks, and storm drains; rubbish collection; snow removal; and related work as required. Duties may also include serving as a landfill attendant.
As an HEO, the position performs additional skilled work involving the operation and use of various vehicles, heavy equipment, and mechanized equipment on assigned projects.
Applicants require a High School Diploma or equivalent. Commercial Driver’s License with Class B and air brake endorsement is preferred with 1 to 3 years’ experience operating heavy and light equipment and trucks.
Hourly range is $31.29 - $41.80 commensurate with CDL certification and years of experience.
